Sculptures with movements.

I was in Florence few days ago and walking in this lovely city a came across these lovely sculptures from a pool. Don't they look alive? Like posing to have they photograph taken?
They are so in movement that I would not be surprise to see them running away from me as I have spotted them.
I feel I have disturbed they contemplation. It is very inspirational for my me.
As I am trying to give to my figures in my paintings the same feeling of movement than these beautiful sculptures.

My trip to Florence.

I went to Florence last week and looking around the lovely museums in this town remind me of some of my paintings from my latest series: Group of people.
Like in these two frescos were people doing different things in different stories.
And to complete it I did find all the colors from my works in the local culture as plates and pots all hand painted. These colors are strong and if you combine them with the ancient paintings above you would come close may be to understand some of my works.

Things I have captured during my research.

This gorgeous stain glass window really inspired me when I was thinking about my new series : "Group of people". The colors coming at you really give another dimension to the panel.
When I saw this sculpture bring  relaxation to the viewer I wanted to give to my paintings the same feeling, as the people in my work being at ease doing they own things.
Inter reaction like this sculpture. In my story the characters have or have not a link between each others.
To bring at the same time tragedy to the story. What is really happening here?

My paintings getting closed to sculpture.

To start a painting from my new series I will draw first my story on paper then I will report it with a small brush and white paint on the canvas. Sometimes I will change few things in order to fit the canvas as I always imagine the size bigger than reality.
With my new works I am getting very closed to sculpture. Many painters used texture to get closed to sculpture which bring absolutely nothing to the work. I use the form of the movement in order to show my feelings on the canvas and it does work. I even get closer to sculpture that way.

Inspiration for my series of group of people.

I love going to museum around Europe.
Looking at the old masters from Italy,
 to Germany and the others.
I will do fast drawings of different human shapes,
 positions and compositions,
to inspire me for my next painting part of a series of:"  Group of people".

Thursday 7 October 2010

Group of people.

From my drawings after placing them on the canvas with a little brush covered with white paint.
I will draw each character within the story board I have created.
In order that the painting would tell a story to the viewer. Story which in each case would be different for each person looking at it.

Tuesday 5 October 2010

The creation of an abstract painting by Francesco Ruspoli.

The way I work with this series of paintings is by building layers of colours.
From lighter to darker shades of red.
With a panel knife bringing the oranges and the magentas on the surface.
 To it's nearly final stage.
Where I will bring little dots of green and yellow to give an impression of grass in the falls.

Saturday 2 October 2010

New abstracts.

I have been working for the last two years on the figures in order to create a strong dynamic series of works. It is so nice to go back to abstracts for a little while.
They seems to have a life of their own when I paint them.
I start with a sort of vague painting and the final result is always so different from the first lay.
 They are creating little worlds.

Tuesday 28 September 2010

The storyboard.

From the drawings I have done in their own I now put them into place in a story which mean something to me and will mean something to the viewer when transfered on the canvas which I will do with a small brush and white paint.
Each story is different and at the same time represent the interaction between people in their own environments. I am a social viewer and taking quick snapshots of life.
Sometimes I will carry one developing a story right on the canvas from a drawing which at the end might be  different from the start as each painting   have a life and a micro space on there own.
Each development create in me a sense of achievement with a feeling of nearly beatitude. Until finished with all the colors and the texture created by the paint itself I cannot see sometimes it's real meaning. They in a way create themselves on their own through my hands and my eyes.

Research to create a final drawing for one painting.

When I am creating a new painting I will research shapes and forms around the human figure by a rapid drawing of people in the street or from a photograph of people in the street, in a museum or doing things.
Each drawing has it's own power in itself. Some are showing feelings by the form on it's own, some by group of two or three.
Each drawing is not related to the next one. They are all independent from each others.
The next stage would be to create a story where each drawing will fit in with the idea behind I have in my brain, in my mind which sometimes is not quite yet born until I put them together.
